3rd Glass Design Award

Glass Horizon

International design competition for students from design-oriented and creative courses of study

After two successful design competitions, the 3rd Glass Design Award will be announced in 2023/2024.

Under the competition title Glasshorizon , participants will have the opportunity to expand their own "glass horizons". They can put their knowledge and skills from their studies into practice and allow their creativity and individuality to flow into the designs. With the Glass Design Award, participants are given space to research and experiment and can thus, among other things, explore the limits of what is possible.

The participants will create designs entirely according to their ideas on one of the specified topics and then produce them from glass and other materials. For this purpose, the equipment of the Glasmanufaktur Harzkristall can also be used after uncomplicated appointment arrangement.

l. Architecture & Furniture Design, ll. Glass & Nature

Glass is a solid material with many interesting properties, such as its transparency. These properties offer innovative applications for glass in many different areas.

We are very pleased to receive submissions on either of the following two topics.

At Theme l Indoor: Architecture & Furniture Design with Glass you are welcome to submit designs for innovative furniture and lighting fixtures. For example, the furniture can be made with glass modules. Other manufacturing methods can also be used.

For the Theme area ll Outdoor: "Glass & Nature" creative designs for the outdoor area can be submitted. For example, a sculpture can be designed and developed to create a green space.

Participants are encouraged to consider sustainable alternatives, such as the use of recycled glass.
